Earth Day is Tuesday

I’ve seen a few people claiming today was Earth Day. AAAAAARRRRRRNKKKKKK! Wrong. Earth Day is April 22, folks. Which means Tuesday is the day. And to get us all in the mood, check out this wild TV spot (click to watch):

Yeah, that’s the Reverends — Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson — coming together across their political and theological lines to stand (ummm, errr) sit together for the planet! I love it when Christians can find unity on something.

Even the staunchly conservative Southern Baptists have gotten on board with “creation care” in recent months.

We’re hosting a South African missionary family for dinner on Tuesday. We’ll probably say a prayer and thank God for the planet and all of creation. How are you going to celebrate Earth Day? Any big (environmentally friendly) plans?

I’m not sure what we will do at our house, but at school we are spending the next 2 weeks learning about our environment. Plans for Tuesday include a walk around our playground and school parking lot to pick up the trash as well as offering to empty everyone’s recycling bins that day. It’s not much but hopefully it’s enough that the kindergarten class will continue the trend at home.

    Isn’t every day Earth day?

BTW- I mowed my lawn with my new “me” powered lawn mower. Those little gas engines on mowers, blowers, etc. do more polluting than an automobile.
